Our school name "Serare" is derived from the Maa language which means to make an impression or a mark on anything. In more recent times it means to write.
The school motto is also in the Maa language - "Inyuat" and means "Looking Beyond".
The Serare School vision is "to bring out the best from each child".
Serare School opened its gates on 11th January 1988 with enrolment of pupils in Standard 1. The student population has had a steady increase since then. The school mission has been to create an environment that is conducive for holistic learning. This is done by helping each child:
- to discover and develop their special abilities (talents)
- to develop life skills
- to realise self actualisation
- to achieve academic excellence
The school campus is located 20km from the City of Nairobi. It is situated in the quietness of the peri-urban area between Karen shopping centre and Ngong Township.
Serare School has 3 sections – kindergarten, primary and high school.
The Kindergarten and Primary are co-educational with a firm Christian foundation, whilst the high school section is only for girls. Boarding facilities are available for both the primary and high school sections.
At Serare, we have staff and students from all over Kenya and other nationalities within East Africa and beyond.
The students, staff and management of Serare School are community minded and are involved in various charity programmes during the school year. These include the annual Dettol Heart Run, Jehovah Jirah Walk amongst others. We also support Shelter Children's Rehabilitation Center in Kibiko annually on various projects.
